"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." ~ Helen Keller
No matter how much talent we may possess, we are always going to be better when we are working with a team. Team work makes the dream work. It really, really does! Coreluv is living proof of that.
Although Coreluv was first birthed inside of me and my husband's heart, without Mike and I building a strong, committed and passionate team, our dream of caring for orphans around the world would still be that: just a dream! We can not stress to our team enough their vital role in this God sized vision. Without them, I'm convinced Coreluv would not be as fruitful as it is today.
"Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success." ~ Henry Ford
"None of us is as smart as all of us." ~ Ken Blanchard
Mike and I have been involved in several different ministries throughout our marriage and each have afforded us life lessons. Some pleasurable, and others difficult but definitely for our betterment. I remember when we were much younger and thought we could accomplish all that God placed within our hearts by ourselves. After all, WHO could get the job done the way we wanted it done other than us? Boy, did we have a lot to learn!
Fast forward 20 years or so later, and the things we've learned about teamwork has been priceless! THEY are priceless (our team!). Jesus knew the value of building a team. His disciples went on to accomplish MORE than He ever would have had He done ministry alone. Jesus' team of 12 people changed the world. How could we ever change it by ourselves?
One of the most important things Mike and I have acquired through working with a team over the years is the ability to hold loosely to what God has given us. By loosely I mean: If God has given us something, then we are merely stewards of what He's given us. Not owners! If we adopt a possessive outlook on our ministry, we'll never be secure enough to step aside and allow someone else on our team the opportunity to make it better.
If you are building a team or belong to a team, that's a lesson you'd be wise to embrace! You may have the most qualifications for a certain task but someone else on your team may be the very one needing to grow and mature into that position through your coaching. Are you willing to get out of the driver's seat at times to allow others the opportunity to grow? That's teamwork!
Mike and I thank God often for the people He has divinely placed to walk this journey with us. We wouldn't be where we are today without them. They truly are a breath from Heaven to us. We see the beauty in them and try our best to inspire them to grow into their full potential. When people tell us we are doing a good job, our team is doing an even better one!!
